Healthy Schools
Ysgol Maes Hyfryd has a long-standing commitment to the Healthy Schools initiative and has worked over many years to meet the previous Healthy Schools criteria. Under the former framework, we were proud to have achieved Phase Five Healthy Schools Status, receiving highly positive feedback for our work in Emotional Health and Wellbeing, Personal Development, and Safety.
“Ysgol Maes Hyfryd makes health and wellbeing a priority and have some excellent actions and evidence. Strong learner voice and the involvement of all staff will enable the school to sustain the actions and continue to embed health in the life of the school… It was obvious that pupils were happy with their school, the education provided, and the caring attitude of the staff. Well done to all involved.”
With the introduction of the new Healthy Schools Award criteria, we are now aligning our practice to the updated principles. We continue to embed these principles throughout our curriculum and across all aspects of school life, ensuring that health and wellbeing remain central to our provision.
As part of this ongoing commitment, we review and update our whole-school approach to mental health and wellbeing each year, ensuring that our policies and practice reflect the most recent guidance and the expectations of the updated Healthy Schools framework.
We also maintain and strengthen our work in key areas such as Hygiene, Food and Fitness, Safety, and the Environment, building upon the strong foundation established under the previous system while adapting to the new national expectations.
Ysgol Maes Hyfryd remains dedicated to promoting a safe, healthy, and supportive environment for all pupils, staff, and families, and we look forward to progressing through the updated Healthy Schools Award journey.
