Safeguarding
Safeguarding at Ysgol Maes Hyfryd
At Ysgol Maes Hyfryd, the safety, wellbeing, and protection of our pupils is our highest priority. We are fully committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of all children and young people and expect all staff, governors, volunteers, visitors, and partner agencies to share this commitment.
Safeguarding is everyone’s responsibility. As a special school, we recognise that our pupils may be particularly vulnerable and that safeguarding concerns can arise in many different forms. We therefore maintain a vigilant, proactive, and child-centred approach to safeguarding at all times.
Ysgol Maes Hyfryd follows the All Wales Safeguarding Procedures and complies fully with Welsh Government guidance, including Keeping Learners Safe. Robust safeguarding arrangements are in place to ensure concerns are identified early, reported appropriately, and acted upon promptly.
Safeguarding Expectations of Staff
All staff are made aware of the school’s safeguarding and child protection policies and undertake regular, mandatory training to ensure they are able to uphold these responsibilities effectively.
All staff at Ysgol Maes Hyfryd are expected to:
Remain vigilant to signs of abuse, neglect, or distress and act promptly
Report any safeguarding concerns immediately through the school’s secure safeguarding systems
Maintain appropriate professional boundaries with pupils at all times
