Sensory support services
The teacher for the hearing impaired and the teacher for the visually impaired work with named pupils at YMH, to support and develop their skills.
In addition, the service runs awareness-raising courses for the staff and pupils.
School Counselling Service
The school counsellor runs weekly support sessions at YMH for pupils. The pupils can refer themselves or their parents can request support. Awareness of the service and how it can be of benefit to the pupils is undertaken through Key Stage Assemblies
Careers Service
Our careers advisor Amanda Frankland supports the pupils in their decision making processes through formal interviews and through a weekly drop-in session when pupils can pop in for a chat if they are unsure about anything. They attend Annual Reviews and support the application process for college courses.
Children's Services
YMH works closely with a range of representatives from Children's Services including social workers, learning disability nurses and occupational therapists. It is important that a collaborative approach is developed for the benefit of the pupil.
