School Nurse

Hi, I am Julia, Ysgol Maes Hyfryd's onsite, School Nurse.

My role within the school is to be responsible for the nursing care of all the pupils within the school setting, liaising with parents, teachers, teaching assistants, medical and paramedical staff as necessary.

I am responsible for assessing the health care needs of every pupil in school, where necessary developing and maintaining programmes of care.

I assist the Community Consultant Paediatrician with routine medical examinations for the pupils. Parents are also invited to attend. Clinics are held in a morning on a day agreed on Doctor’s availability.

I am also in attendance at clinics/assessments held by visiting health professionals held during the school year. These include:

· Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon

· Dietitian

· Children’s Continence Advisor

I am available to attend meetings for any pupil when required with other members of the team, as part of my role in the multi-agency team for children with disabilities.

I am responsible for training and supporting education staff in certain medical procedures and am available to discuss any health issues presented by a pupil.
